Magdalena Woodshop,LLC traces it’s beginnings to the charming and rugged coast of Downeast Maine about 25 years ago. It all started with the hand carving of commercial and residential signs and small ornamental carvings.
Shortly after relocating to New Mexico to escape seemingly endless New England winters, we set up a pretty ordinary woodshop in the tiny Village of Magdalena. It was at the time when Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) robotic routers were in their infancy. We envisioned a few practical applications for the new technology and purchased an early machine from the inventive folks at ShopBot Tools
We are still using our original ShopBot with the addition of major upgrades that have vastly increased capabilities. These upgrades are to both the electronics and mechanical aspects of CNC machining and in the all important design and control software. After employing several software versions, we recently switched to V-Carve Pro which has dramatically expanded our shop’s versatility and adds the ability to carve 3-D components in wood.
Our primary business is carved-in-wood commercial signage which we offer at highly competitive pricing due to our modest overhead and the economies involved in being based in a small community.
Magdalena Woodshop, LLC has recently added a vast catalog of 3-D images that may be carved and custom sized in a variety of woods from native Ponderosa Pine to the most exotic tropical hardwoods.
